The Assembly of the Regional Council 2009-2012

The Assembly of the Regional Council holds 96 seats. The combination of political parties in the Assembly corresponds to the political environment in the region: the Centre Party 42, the Left-Wing Alliance 14, the National Coalition Party 16, Social Democratic Party 12, Green league of Finland 7, Christian Democrats 1 and True Finns 1.

Normally the Assembly convenes twice a year to decide on the economic framework for the Regional Council and to set up its long-term operational objectives.

Chairperson of the Assembly is Mr. Lyly Rajala (MP) from the city of Oulu.
