In mainland Finland, one national Structural Fund programme was implemented in the 2014-2020 programming period, which included measures under both the European European European European European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) Plus (ESF+) Plus (ESF+) Plus (ESF+) (ESF) and the European European European European European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (ERDF) (ERDF) (ERDF) (ERDF).

The Structural Funds programme had seven themes of the programme to support the competitiveness and employment of SMEs in particular. The Regional Implementation Plan for Eastern and Northern Finland was a complement to the national programme for Leverage from the EU 2014-2020, which specified how the programme would be implemented period in Eastern and Northern Finland. The regional plan highlighted the regional specificities of Eastern and Northern Finland and the implementation priorities.
