At its meeting on 15 April 2024, the the Board of the Regional Regional Assembly approved the Target Regional Structure 2050 for Northern Ostrobothnia. Regional structure review has been carried out the Energy and Climate Phase of Northern Ostrobothnia<\/a> the Ministry of the Environment Land Use Development Outlook<\/a> in cooperation with. The regional structure planning complements the information on the current state of Finland's regional and community structure in the national land use development picture work and creates a future vision tailored to the region of Northern Ostrobothnia. The report on the regional structure of Northern Ostrobothnia 2050, as well as the thematic maps and synthesis maps, serve as a complementary knowledge base in the proposal phase of the Regional Land Use Plan for the energy and climate phase and in the preparation of the new regional programme starting in late 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The target regional structure in 2050 expresses the will of the Northern Ostrobothnian people for the future. It takes into account the ongoing development trends at different levels and the effects of the changing global environment, and also boldly includes long-term goal orientation, believing in the effectiveness of regional development efforts. The target regional structure of Northern Ostrobothnia in 2050 is resilient and secure. The region will be developed on the basis of a balanced regional structure, strengthening national and international development corridors, to support the well-being and sustainable growth of Finland as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regional structure review has been carried out in connection with the preparation of the regional plan for the energy and climate phase of Northern Ostrobothnia, in parallel with the national land use development picture work led by the Ministry of the Environment. The regional structure work complements the information on the current state of Finland's regional and municipal structure in the national land use development picture work and creates a self-sufficient vision for the future of Northern Ostrobothnia.
