The Iijoen otva project had three main objectives:

1. Formation of a shared vision for water<\/strong>
(taking into account water management, fisheries, water management, regional use and business the overall solution for the development of a water body<\/em>)<\/em>

2. Promoting the restoration of migratory fish stocks and securing the Baltic salmon stock<\/strong>
(promotion of fish road construction, promotion of fishing arrangements, smolt migration study)<\/em>

3. Promoting development measures that increase the value of the river<\/strong>
(collection of project ideas, launch of new projects)<\/em>

The name of the Otva project is related to the old dictionary. Otva meant a guide tree attached to the collision at one end, which prevented logs from sticking to the shore and the formation of fog. As a project name, Iijoki's otva symbolizes the desired role of the project in the smoother running of Iijoki's development work and migratory fish.

The project was managed by the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia. The Natural Resources Institute Finland was part-implemented. P\u00f6yry Finland Oy, Akordi Oy and Mapita Oy were responsible for the water services section.\u00a0The main financier of the project was the European Union (ELY Centre\/ERDF). Other financiers included PVO-Vesivoima Oy, the City of Oulu, the Municipality of Ii, the City of Pudasj\u00e4rvi, the Municipality of Taivalkoski, the City of Kuusamo, the Natural Resources Institute Finland and the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Osatoteuttajana toimi Luonnonvarakeskus.
