Workshop: Advocacy of Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia culture

What should cultural advocacy take into account in Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia? How can we work together? These questions will be discussed at the workshop on 9 October 2025. The event is organized by KAIPO, a joint association of Kainuu and North Ostrobothnia – Culture strengthening networks in Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia project. 

The event is a continuation of the influencer communication training organised in 2024. The trainer was Anu Vehviläinen, Advocacy Specialist. After the training, there was a need to delve deeper into the subject and form a common picture of current advocacy issues in the culture of the Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia regions and structure the work also on a plan level.

The workshop work will be carried out in two separate workshops, the first of which will be held on Thursday 9.10.2025 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Teams. The workshop will focus on understanding the operating environment and common interest representation needs by working on a common interest representation situational picture and objectives. The second part will take place in November. The aim is to draw up advocacy plans from the participants' own operating environments.

The workshops will be facilitated by Anu Vehviläinen, Advocacy Specialist. He has extensive experience in local, regional and national decision-making and advocacy. He has previously served as a Member of Parliament, Speaker of Parliament and Minister. Anu has a strong cultural knowledge thanks to her education and work history. Today, he is involved in many cultural activities in his area.
