We carry out cross-border advocacy and cooperation in the Advisory Board for Eastern and Northern Finland and in various networks in the IP area.
Eastern and Northern Finland – Most of Finland
The seven regions of Eastern and Northern Finland cooperate closely across regional borders and carry out advocacy activities. Common to South Savo, North Savo, North Karelia, North Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, Kainuu and Lapland are, among other things, long distances, sparsely populated areas and long international land borders with our neighbouring countries. The safest border is the inhabited border.
The Advisory Board for Eastern and Northern Finland is a cooperative body established to deal with matters common to the provinces of the region. In addition to the regional councils, the network also includes regional parliamentarians. The communicators of the Regional Councils of Eastern and Northern Finland also work closely together in advocacy and advocacy.
The Advisory Board for Eastern and Northern Finland meets twice a year and organises an annual Eastern and Northern Finland Summit. In addition, the counties have joint projects, for example, related to the transformation of livelihoods and transport.

Effects of forest changes are emphasised in Eastern and Northern Finland
The regions of Eastern and Northern Finland account for 69 per cent of the total area of forest and turf in the country. The relative importance of forestry is therefore greater than in the rest of the country, and thus the ecological, economic and social impacts of the changes taking place in the forest sector are also highlighted. On behalf of the provinces of Eastern and Northern Finland, the Natural Resources Institute Finland investigated how the forests in the area have changed and what their future development could look like.

Joint EU office in Brussels
EU Office for Eastern and Northern Finland In Brussels, the interests of actors in South Savo, Kainuu, Central Ostrobothnia, Lapland, North Karelia, North Ostrobothnia and North Savo are represented.
Through advocacy in cooperation with the Regional Councils, the EU Office improves the competitiveness and operating conditions of the business sector in Eastern and Northern Finland.
