On 9 May, Europe Day, we will discuss security and the future
“A changing Europe – where are we now, where are we going tomorrow?”

This year, Europe Day will be celebrated on Saturday 9 May in Oulu, Finland, around themes of future and security. Topics will be addressed by the Director of the International Centre for Defence and Security Kristi Raik Under the heading ‘Changing Europe – where are we now, where are we going tomorrow?’, Mr Raiki will be followed by a panel discussion, which will delve deeper into the topic from a northern perspective. At the end of the event, the coffee service of the North Ostrobothnia EU Information Point will be available in the lower lobby of the library. Access to the event is free. Welcome to us!
What is an EU information point?
The Northern Ostrobothnia EU Information Point is part of the Europe Direct network operating in Europe. The network consists of 423 information points, eight of which are located in Finland.
The information points aim to increase interaction between EU decision-makers and citizens and encourage them to participate in the debate on the EU and its future.

What do we offer you?
There are many ways to get information about how the EU works and how it is implemented locally. Follow us on social media channels Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and subscribe to our newsletter. By subscribing to the newsletter and following social media channels, you can get EU information about your region easily and quickly!
What kind of information do you get? The Northern Ostrobothnia EU Information Point provides information on the progress and results of projects funded by the European Union, international events in our region and the activities of the European Union. In addition, we provide information on current affairs and events in the European Union.
The EU Info-Point can also be invited to visit schools and educational institutions. We offer a variety of EU-themed lessons and presentations for both schoolchildren and adults. Don't hesitate to contact us well in advance so that we can together plan the presentation you need!
The information point can also deliver various publications and learning materials by post. All EU Info Point services are free of charge for citizens and operators living in the Northern Ostrobothnia region.
And, of course, we are organising events on the EU that are open to all citizens. The most important of these is Europe Day on 9 May. You can also find the EU information point for Northern Ostrobothnia in many events organised by others. Take advantage of this opportunity and come and talk!
