Results of funding applications

35 applications were received in the second round of the Renewable and Skilled Finland 2021-2027 programme, which ended on 28 March 2023. They applied for support for 23 different projects for a total amount of approximately EUR 11.2 million.

The application period for national AKKE funding ended on 28 March 2023. Fifteen applications for funding were received. The total amount of support for the projects was EUR 1 048 026.

The second ERDF call for applications for Sustainable Urban Development of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia ended on 9 December 2022. Six project applications were received for a total amount of EUR 434 089.

The secretariat of the provincial cooperation group took note of the results of the funding applications.

The application period for the JTF has been postponed

The application period for the JTF under the Renewable and Skilled Finland 2021-2027 programme has been postponed. The JTF call is currently expected to open on 21 April 2023. Due to the delay, the first processing date of the applications will be postponed and it will be 12 May 2023.

Sustainable and integrated electrical energy storage with additive manufacturing methods / ERDF

Applicant: University of Oulu and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland
Total cost estimate: EUR 1 300 660
ERDF and State funding requested: EUR 910 454, of which EUR 180 000 for the Regional Council of Central Ostrobothnia.

The national challenge is the lack of industrial battery cell manufacturing in Finland. The aim of the project is to increase the material and manufacturing technology know-how supporting the development and industrialisation of battery cell technology. It will enable a more environmentally friendly and socio-economically sustainable production of lithium-ion batteries.

Biomass recycling in North-Eastern Finland / ERDF

Applicant: Northeast Finland Development Company
Total cost estimate: EUR 1 192 421
ERDF and State funding requested: EUR 834 969

The aim is to boost rural business by developing an environmentally friendly way to recycle biomass. The project will compile a public report on the potential of biomass based on studies and research. In addition, a device innovation will be developed for the collection of biomasses.

Smart Pilots - Piloting of smart unmanned systems in Northern Ostrobothnia / ERDF

Applicant: Centria University of Applied Sciences Ltd (Nivala-Haapajärvi Region NIHAK ry, Haapaveden-Siikalatva Region Joint Municipal Authority, Sievin Teollisuuspuisto Oy)
Total cost estimate: 687 461
ERDF and State funding requested: EUR 481 222

The aim of the project is to increase the competence and innovation capacity of unmanned systems in the region. The project develops and pilots solutions and identifies the applicability of the piloted cases to other industries. Solutions are developed taking into account the perspective of commercialization.

The next meeting of the secretariat of the Provincial Cooperation Group will be held on 6 April 2023.
