Iida Hyvärinen from Muhos elected President of the Youth Council
The Northern Ostrobothnia Youth Council, appointed by the Regional Government in March 2022, held an organizing meeting in Oulu on Thursday, 19 May 2022.
President of the Youth Council elected after a vote Iida Hyvärinen From Muhos. A total of seven members sought the presidency. The vice-presidents were also put to the vote, as nine members sought two seats. 1st Vice-Chair was elected Leevi Sippola Haapajärvi elected 2nd Vice-Chair Liina Mäkelä From the Oulainens.
POPNUVA project promotes the inclusion of young people
The POPNUVA project was launched in autumn 2020 to promote the growth, independence and inclusion of young people in Northern Ostrobothnia in society. The project will run until the end of this year. The project supports the organisation and operation of the Regional Youth Council.
Preparing the Northern Ostrobothnia Youth Forum
The Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia, the Regional State Administrative Agency for Northern Finland, the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Northern Ostrobothnia and the Employment and Economic Development Office of Northern Ostrobothnia have discussed the organisation of a regional youth forum in autumn 2022. Representatives of the Youth Council were elected to the preparatory working group to be set up for the planning of the event.
Nuva ry offers support to the youth council
Maria Markkula, Head of Nuva Support at the Association of Finnish Youth Councils, presented the organisation's activities. The association offers events, networks, peer learning, education and advocacy support to the youth council.
The next meeting will be held on 1 September 2022.
