The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Northern Ostrobothnia has processed the JTF project applications related to employment and skills in the Renewable and Skilled Finland 2021-2027 programme, which were received for processing between 1 June and 29 August 2024. This is a continuous call for applications until 28 November 2024. Seven JTF ESF-type applications were received for Northern Ostrobothnia. The total amount of aid requested is approximately EUR 1.7 million. Between 1 May and 2 September 2024, no applications were received to process the ongoing call for projects related to JTF restoration and reuse.

The Regional Assembly of Oulu Region has not opened new calls for applications in addition to those previously announced for the Renewable and Skilled Finland 2021-2027 programme. Applications for the following year are currently planned. The Regional Assembly had to apply for national AKKE funding for projects that focus on strengthening regional RDI activities. The call for applications was open from 22 April to 30 August 2024, during which a total of 14 project applications were received, in which a total of EUR 950 000 was applied for support. The maximum amount available for financing projects is EUR 448 000.

Current issues of the EU's EAFRD

550 Leader+ decisions have already been taken for this programming period. The business support info organised by the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Northern Ostrobothnia will be available on 28 November 2024 at 13.00. The information will be provided remotely by Teams. The regional cooperation group took note of current EAFRD issues.

The Secretariat of the regional Cooperation Group supported one project to be funded under the Renewable and Skilled Finland 2021-2027 programme

At its meeting, the secretariat of the regional cooperation group examined one application, Cooperation for the restoration of peat production areas in Northern Ostrobothnia, Kainuu and Lapland (PUHTI) project.
In accordance in cooperation in cooperation with the proposal of the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Northern Ostrobothnia, the secretariat of the regional cooperation group supported the project to be funded by the Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021–2027 EU Regional and Structural Policy Programme.

Other issues

The SMART Community-led transition for Europe’s Rural Areas, SMART ERA project started on 1 January 2024. The project will last four years. The aim of the project is to secure the competitiveness of rural and remote areas and areas affected by demographic change by utilising digitalisation. This is done by testing and developing digital services for companies and citizens in skills management. The Kerttu Saalasti Institute of the University of Oulu is leading a work package in which the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region is one of the pilot areas.

The next meeting of the Secretariat of the regional Cooperation Group will be held on 16 October 2024 at 9 a.m.
