Northern Ostrobothnia Co-operation Group supports the financing of two projects
The Northern Ostrobothnia Regional Cooperation Group met on Thursday 9 April 2026 at the premises of the Regional Assembly of Northern Ostrobothnia. The meeting discussed topical regional development themes, such as the preparation of the new programming period 2028-2034, the update of the implementation plan for security of supply and comprehensive security, and the ESF+ and JTF funding situation. In addition, the Young Friends Regional Assembly's current project presentation was heard at the meeting.
Positive opinion for two projects
The regional cooperation group gave its opinion on four ESF+-funded projects, two of which were in favour of funding.
The Future of Work Group Project
The project, implemented by the Youth Friends Regional Assembly, was partly implemented by the cities of Kalajoki, Ylivieska and Nivala. The aim of the project is to develop employment services in the region, in particular to support the employment of the long-term unemployed and people in a weak position in the labour market.
The project develops individual and group-based career coaching, strengthens job-seekers' job-search and digital skills, and increases employer cooperation, for example, through recruitment models and corporate cooperation. In addition, the project will create a unified operating model for customer guidance and strengthen cooperation between the stakeholders in the area.
The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 1,354,219, of which ESF+ and state funding account for EUR 1,083,375. The duration of the project is three years.
Organisational Depot 2.0 project
The aim of the Auta Lasta ry project is to support the Participation and Participation and Inclusion and well-being of families, children and young people by guiding them to organizational activities. At the same time, cooperation between the public sector and organisations will be strengthened.
The project promotes partnerships between professionals, officials and the third sector, in particular to support families in a strained life situation. Activities are carried out in Kempele, Liminka, Lumijoki, Muhos, Oulu, Tyrnävä and Hailuoto.
The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 765 959, of which ESF+ and state funding account for EUR 611 267.
Both projects are funded by the Northern Finland Vitality Centre.
Changes in the Presidency
Jaana Korhonen, Director General of the Northern Finland Vitality Centre, was appointed as the second vice-chair of the regional cooperation group.

The next meeting of the regional cooperation group will be held on Thursday 28 May 2026.
