Meeting press release of the the Board of the Regional Assembly
The Regional Board of Northern Ostrobothnia met on Monday 16 March to discuss, among other things, the financial statements and internal control reports. The the Board of the Regional Assembly also appointed the persons to the Advisory Board for Organisations, the Cooperation Group for Education and Research and the Advisory Board for Climate Work.
Financial statements and report of the Board of Directors for consideration by the Audit Committee and the Regional Assembly
The the Board of the Regional Assembly approved the financial statements and the report of the Board of Directors for its part for the year 2025 and decided to refer them to the Audit Committee and the Regional Assembly after the audit. The financial statements of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region for 2025 show a surplus of EUR 41 079.80.
Members appointed to the working groups
In December 2025, the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region adopted the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region's strategy for 2025-2029. In line in cooperation with the strategy, working groups include: the Climate Work Advisory Board, Cooperation Group on Education and Research and the Advisory Board for Organisations, the persons were appointed by the the Board of the Regional Assembly for the current term of office.
Matias Ojalehto, Mayor of Reisjärvi, was appointed as the representative of the network of small municipalities, and Anne Sormunen, Mayor of Utajärvi, was appointed as his deputy. Jari Hentilä from Naturpolis Oy was appointed as the representative of the regional cities and Laura Liuska, Environmental Inspector of the City of Kalajoki, was appointed as his deputy. Lauri Nikula, President of the the Board of the Regional Assembly, and Esa Aalto, Vice-President of the the Board of the Regional Assembly, were appointed as representatives of the the Board of the Regional Assembly. Nikula was appointed as Chair of the Advisory Board for Climate Work and Aalto as Vice Chair.
The chairpersons will participate in the Highway 22 transport seminar
Oulu-Kainuu Tervantie ry organizes a traffic seminar on 20.3.2026 at Valtatie 22 in Rokua. The event will provide up-to-date information on the traffic volumes of heavy traffic on the route and on the Regional Assembly's lobbying activities. The the Board of the Regional Assembly selected Lauri Nikula, President of the the Board of the Regional Assembly, and Senja Kovaniemi, President of the Regional Assembly, as participants in the transport seminar.
The the Board of the Regional Assembly took note of:
- Internal Audit Report 2025
- Results of staff surveys
- service cases: Chairmanship of the regions of Eastern and Northern Finland in 2027 and advocacy measures
- decisions taken by office-holders between 18 February and 10 March 2026;
- opinions issued by the Office between 18 February and 10 March 2026.
