Meeting press release of the the Board of the Regional Assembly
The Regional Board of Northern Ostrobothnia met in Oulu on Monday 13 April and received an update on the preparation of the EU programme period 2028-2034, the monitoring of the transport system plan, the state of preparation of the main railway vision and the national traffic system plan, as well as the international affairs of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region.
Capturing and transhipping live Atlantic salmon and trout in Iijoki in 2026
The Regional Assembly of Oulu Region has tendered out the catching and overloading of live Atlantic salmon and trout in Iijoki in 2026 as part of the Lohi Iijoki 2 project. The task is to procure live, fit and fertile Atlantic salmon and trout from the lower part of the Iijoki River and the terminal area, as well as the transshipment of fish to the Iijoki River and its tributaries during May-October 2026. It was decided that Korpilaavu Oy would implement the measure.
Proposals for members of the expert bank of the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency
The Finnish Arts and Culture Agency has requested candidates for the expert bank, which will replace the current state arts Regional Assemblys and Regional Assemblys. The union proposes the following members to the expert bank of the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency:

Changes in membership
- The composition of the Northern Ostrobothnia Education and Research Cooperation Group was supplemented by Esa Loukusa (deputy representative Johanna Hoikkala) from the Kainuu-Koillismaa Employment Region and Jaana Ritola (Tuija Nurkkala) from the Joint Authority for Education Brahe. In addition, the name of the deputy representative of the Ylivieska-Kalajoki-Nivala employment area was corrected; Her real name is Marjaana Haapakoski.
- Quality and Development Manager What Lukkarinen was appointed as the representative of JEDU, the Joint Municipal Authority for Education in the River Valleys, to the Advisory Board for Climate Work in Northern Ostrobothnia.
- Jari Ahlholm (Niko Hyppönen) was appointed as a full member of the regional cooperation group MTK Northern Finland. The changes are due to staff changes.
