The municipality of Vaala receives the Northern Ostrobothnia Act of Wellbeing 2023 recognition for its actions to promote the well-being, health and safety of its residents.
The municipality of Vaala has shown forerunnership by investing decisively and persistently in preventive work, allocating scarce human resources to creating the conditions for the well-being and physical activity of its residents. The municipality has invested in improving and developing sports conditions. The strategic planning of well-being is of high quality in the municipality, and organisational-municipal cooperation has been developed in an exemplary way.
– The Municipality of Vaala is very pleased to receive the recognition and thanks for the well-prepared and well-performed welfare work carried out in a small municipality. It is also an important message for decision-makers, as it is not always easy to see the effects of promoting well-being when making a decision. Vaala's decision-makers have been brave and confident that their decisions will bring well-being. One example of a structural measure to promote well-being is the operating model developed in the municipality of Vaala, which includes the statutory well-being plan and its follow-up measures, which were prepared once during the term of the Regional Assembly, using knowledge-based management in depth. Each year, the Regional Assembly decides, in connection in cooperation in cooperation with the budget, on the priorities for promoting well-being. Of these, the Welfare Department prepares concrete measures that are approved by the Welfare Board. The implementation of the measures is monitored in the Welfare Department.
– The second structure is the municipality’s model of coaching management, in which the work community is not only self-directed, but also community-directed. In a small work community, we are flexible, brainstorming and supportive of each other and other municipal departments. The training of the personnel is supported and thus the latest information is provided to the work community, stresses Kärkkäinen.
The award will be presented at the Northern Ostrobothnia Welfare Forum in Kempele on 15 November 2023. Recognition is received by the Chairman of Vaala Municipal Regional Assembly Esa Karjalainen, Mayor Minna Kärkkäinen, vs. Director of Welfare Anne Huotari the Welfare Coordinator Jenna Leinonen. The award is presented by the Regional Director of Northern Ostrobothnia Jussi Rämet.
