Luohua Rural Association Award
The Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia awarded the 2022 organisation award to Luohua Rural Association for its activities that strengthen the wellbeing and inclusion experience of the target group by welcoming new villagers and cottagers to the village.
Luohua Rural Association has shown a uniquely broad sense of participation, cooperation and volunteer spirit. At Luohua, new villagers and cottagers are welcomed to the village, residents who have recently moved are remembered, and they are personally welcomed to live in the community. The goal is everyday cohesiveness. The villagers are very actively and extensively involved. The action has been border-breaking.
The chairman of the association, Päivi Pietarila, considers the spirit of the village of Luohua to be very good. “We have a long tradition of welcoming all new villagers. As the village is small and remote, it is a good idea to tell everyone from the outset what the village has to offer its residents", says Pietarila.
The well-being of villagers and the experience of inclusion have been strengthened in many different ways. The wishes and thoughts of the villagers have been surveyed with village surveys. The development targets raised in the surveys have been successfully promoted. The village has an up-to-date village plan and a rich selection of events. A key factor in the village's housing security is the WhatsApp group, which is common to all residents. In recent years, the village's other communications have been intensified in a variety of ways. There is continuous cooperation between the entire village community. Young people are also excited about the action.
“The idea is that this is done for the villagers and for us. When we organise something in the village, people usually go with us", says Pietarila.
The organisation award was presented at the Regional Parliament of Northern Ostrobothnia on 7 November 2022.
The award was received by Luohua Rural Association Marko of Sweden, Anna-Reetta Hosike and Sanna Petäjämaa.
The award was presented by the President of the Provincial Government Jussi Ylitalo and Esa Aunola, Chairman of the Organisational Advisory Board.
