The secretariat of the regional cooperation group held its meeting on 20 June 2022 in Oulu.
Päivi Keisanen told about the current state of play in the preparation of a just transition plan for Northern Ostrobothnia. Informal feedback from the European Commission on the provincial transition plans has been received. The Commission's official feedback on the transition plans is expected to be received in September, after which the Government's deliberations and the amendment to the Renewable and Skilled Finland 2021-2027 programme document will take place. According to the current timetable, approval by the Commission would be obtained towards the end of the year and regional implementation would begin.
Riitta Ilola presented the ESF progress report for the 2014-2020 programming period. According to the situation in June 2022, approximately EUR 104 million of ESF project funding has been granted in Northern Ostrobothnia. There were 340 funded projects. 6642 SMEs, 2579 other organisations and some 37500 people have participated in the projects. The figures do not include cross-border projects. In Northern Ostrobothnia, the main project implementers are a municipality (72 projects), a university of applied sciences (61 projects), a non-governmental organisation (43 projects) and a university (36 projects).
The secretariat of the regional cooperation group supported the following projects from the Finnish Structural Funds programme for sustainable growth and work 2014-2020:
Developing the digital guidance skills of social and health care professionals (Sote-Digiopastor) / ESF
The aim of the project is to develop and pilot a training model that supports the systematic development of the digital guidance skills of social and health care professionals in the North Ostrobothnia wellbeing services region.

Strong message / ESF
The aim of the project, aimed at journalists and communication professionals working in Northern Ostrobothnia, is to increase competence related to data and mobile journalism, multimedia, social media, digital security and to promote well-being at work in the communications sector.

Towards Achieving Digital Guidance / ESF
The project explores digital guidance solutions suitable for vocational education and training. The aim is to envision a digital guidance path that runs alongside and alongside existing guidance services and enables all students, depending on their situation and location, to receive guidance in a timely manner. In the longer term, the project aims for an impenetrable network of guidance services that achieves quality, timeliness, both at the level of the individual training provider and regionally.

APAJA - Virtual Visits approach / ESF
The aim of the project is to increase the skills of the actors involved in the project in terms of digital applications and technologies, thereby increasing the quality and effectiveness of virtual meetings and events implemented through remote connections and digital solutions in the project area. The project develops and tests the operating models of virtual visits.
