Decisions of the provincial government

The Regional Council of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia held a meeting in Oulu on 14 September 2020. The meeting was adjourned after more than three hours and the meeting will continue on 28 September 2020.

Economic and Action Plan for Opinions in Memberships

The provincial government approved the draft economic and operational plan for 2021-2023 and the budget for 2021 as a basis for further preparation. In accordance with the Treaty, the member municipalities of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia are asked to give their opinions on the draft, which will be taken into account in the final plan. The 2021 budget totals EUR 5 646 887 in operational revenue, representing an increase of 5,4 % compared to the 2020 budget. Operating costs amount to EUR 5 705 149, representing an increase of 4.2% over the previous year's budget. The increase in operating income and operating costs is due to the fact that the projects managed by the federation are starting at the end of 2020. Membership contributions will remain unchanged compared to the 2020 budget.

Coronavirus Action Plan 2020-2021 for Northern Ostrobothnia

A Regional Survival Plan for Northern Ostrobothnia will be prepared to gather regional measures for the post-crisis management and reconstruction of the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis. The plan, led by the Regional Council, is drawn up in cooperation with the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment and stakeholders. The plan will be approved by the regional cooperation group on 30 September 2020. The plan includes both priorities and measures for rapid recovery and choices to kick-start new growth. The aim is to renew the industrial structure, which is based on knowledge and innovations.

The Digituki project of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia is being extended

The Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia is applying for state aid for the further development of regional coordination of digital support. Regional coordination of digital support has been developed in Northern Ostrobothnia since 2018. The Ministry of Finance has opened a call for applications for state subsidies to regional councils, which will enable the further development of regional coordination of digital support in Northern Ostrobothnia between 1 November 2020 and 31 October 2021. The Northern Ostrobothnia project focuses on further developing the operations of the regional digital support network, so that the network can continue to promote the provision of and better access to regional digital support in the future. The project supports the development and coordination of digital support at municipal level. The total budget of the project is EUR 185 000. The self-financing contribution of EUR 37,000 is proposed to be financed from the Development Fund of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia.
