Influencing the objectives of the Northern Programme and the Government Programme of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia

Regional Director Markus Erkkilä told the councillors about the actions of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia to influence the objectives of the Government Programme. The Northern Programme is a joint initiative of Northern actors for a Government-led programme that must be included in the next Government Programme. A government-level programme is needed, as this is an inter-state cooperation between northern Finland, Sweden and Norway. Maintaining the vitality of northern Finland is geopolitically important, and investments and energy production in the north are nationally significant in scale. In addition, the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia has compiled the influencing objectives that are important for the development of the region into the Government Programme 2023-2026, based on the policies of the Regional Government.
