TUULI project progresses – full set of studies completed
Background studies on the ongoing TUULI project related to green structure and ecosystem services were heard in the the Board of the Regional Assembly. In connection in cooperation in cooperation with the TUULI project, an update report on the main migration routes of the bird population, a wolf territory report and an electricity transmission report were also consulted.
The TUULI project produces new information on the suitability of the Northern Ostrobothnia region for wind power production and seeks solutions to environmental issues in the sector. The aim is to create conditions for the development of the sector, which would lead to an increase in emission-free electricity production in the Northern Ostrobothnia region.
The TUULI project is strongly connected to the renewal of the regional plan for Northern Ostrobothnia that began in October 2021. The regional plan for the energy and climate phase addresses, among other things, the regional structure, energy production and transmission, the transport system, the green structure and the effects of the energy transition on land use planning, as well as the assessment of climate impacts.
Regional Assemblys of Northern Finland agree on coordination and management cooperation
The Regional Assemblys of Northern Finland agree on cooperation in the coordination and management of the Regional Assemblys. The Regional Assembly of Oulu Region, together in cooperation in cooperation with the Regional Assembly of Kainuu, the Regional Assembly of Lapland and the Regional Assembly of Central Ostrobothnia, agreed on the implementation of the Programme for the New Regional and Structural Policy 2021-2017, the coordination of the Northern Region, the Monitoring Committee and the activities of its secretariat and the Northern Finland Coordination Group.
Northern Ostrobothnia joins the ELMO project
Northern Ostrobothnia participates in applying for funding for the Northern Finland Industries in Transition (ELMO) project and in implementing the project when a positive funding decision is made. The concrete objectives of the project are to strengthen cooperation between companies and RDI organisations, to strengthen cooperation across cluster borders, to expand and deepen networking activities in the regions of Eastern and Northern Finland, and to develop a smart specialisation strategy for 2024-2027.
Northern Ostrobothnia Culture Development Programme 2022-2030 for statements to municipalities
The Northern Ostrobothnia Culture Development Programme 2022-2030, ‘Culture flows to Northern Ostrobothnia’, will launch a public consultation in the municipalities of Northern Ostrobothnia. Opinions will be requested by the end of February.
The programme, which starts in cooperation in cooperation with municipal statements, has a strong regional development perspective, and its concrete objectives are the contribution of culture to the well-being of the region and the lives of every person in the region.
Other decisions
Regional Director Pauli Harju was elected to the Regional Sports Regional Assembly to replace Hannu Karstuse, who has requested his resignation from the Northern Ostrobothnia Sports Regional Assembly. The term of office is 2020-2023.
The Regional Assembly of Northern Ostrobothnia also approved the Regional Assembly of Northern Ostrobothnia's guidelines on gifts, representation and hospitality.
In addition, the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region has issued several statements, particularly in relation to infrastructure construction in the area.
Meetings of the Regional Assembly and the the Board of the Regional Assembly in spring 2022
In spring 2022, the meetings of the the Board of the Regional Assembly will be held on 17 January, 14 February, 14 March, 25 April, 23 May and 20 June. The meeting dates of the Regional Assembly and Government are announced on the website of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region.
