Decisions of the North Ostrobothnia Regional Cooperation Group
North Ostrobothnia Provincial Cooperation Group held an electronic meeting 18.12.2020. At the beginning of the meeting, Tapio Fabritius from the University of Oulu presented the Printable Intelligence as an enabler of a safe food chain project.
Preparation of the EU's regional and structural policy and rural development programme for the 2021-2027 programming period
Päivi Keisanen from the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia told about the anticipated timetable for the preparation of the EU's regional and structural policy for the 2021-2027 programming period. The planned start of the implementation of the programme will take place on 1 September 2021. For the JTF, the Just Transition Fund, a draft transition plan for Northern Ostrobothnia will be prepared in early 2021. The plan is approved by the regional cooperation group. In addition, the European Union is earmarking temporary REACT-EU funding for COVID-19 recovery, for which two new strands will be added to the Structural Funds for Sustainable Growth and Jobs 2014-2020.
Timo Lehtiniemi from the North Ostrobothnia Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment told about the preparation of a regional rural development plan for North Ostrobothnia, which will proceed during the winter as surveys and focus group work. The plan will be submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry by the end of June 2021.
Three projects to be funded
MYR supported one European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and two European Social Fund (ESF) projects to be funded under the Finnish Structural Funds Programme for Sustainable Growth and Jobs 2014-2020. The final decision on the financing of the ERDF project is made by the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia and, for ESF projects, by the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Northern Ostrobothnia. The projects supported are:

Applicant University of Oulu and co-applicants VTT Ltd, Oulu University of Applied Sciences Ltd and Natural Resources Institute Finland. The project has been co-financed by Flexbright Oy, Greenercell Oy, Aikolon Oy, Pilkington, PrintoCent Board, Dai Nippon Printing and the City of Oulu.
Total cost estimate: EUR 695 000.
ERDF and State funding requested: EUR 486 500.
Sustainable development, digitalisation and internationalisation as part of entrepreneurship education/ESF
Applicant University of Oulu and co-implementers Centria University of Applied Sciences Ltd, Oulu University of Applied Sciences Ltd, Educational Centre Brahe, Jokilaaksot Educational Consortium, City of Oulu and Educational Consortium OSAO.
