Senja Kovaniemi to head the provincial council, Lauri Nikula continues as chair of the provincial government
The highest decision-making regional council of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia met in Oulu on 8 September. It elected the Presidents of the Provincial Council and the members of the Provincial Government and the Audit Board.
The President of the Provincial Council was elected Senja Kovaniemi from Liminka. The first Vice-Chair was appointed Sanna Laine (sd.) Kempele, 2nd Vice-Chair Jouni Jussinniemi (left) from Pyhäjärvi and third Vice-Chair Juha Koskela It's from Ylivieska.
The central task of the council is to decide on the strategic guidelines, plans, operational programmes and regional land use plans that guide the development of the county. These include, for example, the approval of the provincial programme and the provincial plan. In addition, the Regional Council annually reviews and approves the budget and financial plan of the Regional Council of North Ostrobothnia, and steers the allocation of resources by setting targets for the activities of the budget year. The Board of Governors approves the financial statements and the report of the Board of Directors of the Association, which assesses the achievement of the objectives set by the Board of Governors.

The President of the Provincial Government was elected Lauri Nikula (Central) From Oulu to Vice-Chair Mikko Korkeakoski It's from Ylivieska.
The Regional Government manages the activities, administration and finances of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia and is responsible for the tasks assigned to it by the Local Government Acts. Thirteen members were elected to the Provincial Government.
The Chairman of the Audit Board was elected Matti Leiviskä (Central) Saints and Vice-Presidents Tuula Ala-Aho (sd.) from Oulu.
The Audit Board is responsible for evaluating the operations and financial targets set by the Board of Governors, the effectiveness and appropriateness of the operations and the realisation of the financial equilibrium. The members and deputy members of the Audit Board are ordinary members of the provincial council.
