Recognition by the Municipality of Ii for its work in promoting the well-being of local residents
The municipality of Ii received the Northern Ostrobothnia Act of Wellbeing 2024 recognition for its comprehensive work to promote the well-being of its residents and increase life management. The award will be presented at the Northern Ostrobothnia Welfare Forum on 27 November 2024 in Vaala, Finland.
In Ii, special attention has been paid to the inclusion of mental well-being and inclusion in the strategic plans guiding the municipality's operations, as well as in concrete well-being work.

The well-being work of the municipality of Ii is strongly based on strategic priorities: strong and sustainable growth, close-to-nature Ii, mental well-being and systemic change.

Director of Welfare Janne Semi-taival reports that villages, communities and the third sector have been excellently involved in the municipality of Ii. The entire municipal organisation is committed to promoting well-being.
Concrete examples of this are the development of mobility opportunities, the most recent being an innovative swimming pool or the beach paradigm, which support both physical and mental well-being.
- We also invest in strengthening financial safety networks so that every citizen of the municipality has the opportunity to have a good everyday life and participate. Our goal is to do things differently and more effectively with current resources, emphasizes Semi-taival.
The recognition is received by Mayor of Ii Marjukka Manninen, Director of Welfare Janne Halftaival, Welfare Coordinator Riitta Räinä and Sirpa Varanka, Chair of the Welfare Board. The award is presented by Markus Erkkilä, Director of Planning at the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia.
