The Northern Ostrobothnia Regional Regional Assembly's International Women's Day reception 2026 at the Design Centre Proto
The Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia celebrated the 2026 Oulu Capital of Culture year by organizing the traditional International Women's Day reception in cooperation with Design Centre Proto on 8 March 2026. Nearly 100 women from the province participated in the event!
The reception of the Women's Day of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia discussed women's networking, influencing and opportunities to influence and participate in societal activities and decision-making. This year’s theme was ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For all women and girls’
Senja Kovaniemi, Chairman of the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia, said the welcome words of the event.

- Greetings from the Government, Minister of Education and Culture Mari-Leena Talvitie
- A woman's place - from idea to world, Taija Säiliö, CEO and founder of FabPatch Oy
- Design Centre Proto's speech was given by space and furniture designer, organisation secretary, Sanna Mäkelä, Northern Finland Designers' Association
- Oras Tynkkynen, Member of Parliament, Chair of the Green Party Parliamentary Group
