the Northern Ostrobothnia Regional Youth Regional Assembly
The Northern Ostrobothnia Regional Youth Regional Assembly met for the first time on Wednesday, 8 October 2025. The Northern Ostrobothnia Regional Youth Regional Assembly is a joint Regional Youth Regional Assembly of Pohde and the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region. The members represent the Regional Youth Regional Assemblys of 30 municipalities in Northern Ostrobothnia.
The Regional Youth Regional Assembly is one of Pohteen's three advocacy bodies, the other two being the Elderly Regional Assembly and the Disability Regional Assembly. The Regional Youth Regional Assembly participates in planning, preparing, implementing and monitoring the activities of the wellbeing services county in matters that are relevant to the services of children and young people. The current term of office of the Regional Youth Regional Assembly runs until 2027.
Regional Youth Regional Assembly offers important places for influencing
At its constitutive meeting, the Regional Youth Regional Assembly made the following choices for its new term of office:

Representative to the Security and Preparedness Board: Otto Soronen From Taivalkoski. Deputy member of the Security and Preparedness Board: What an Inkeroinen.
Representative on the Board for Welfare and Participation and Inclusion: Jere Viinamäki. Deputy member of the Committee for the Promotion of Welfare and Participation and Inclusion: Otto Soronen.
Representative in the regional student welfare cooperation group: Venla Heikkinen It's a saint. Deputy representative in the regional student welfare cooperation group: Jere Viinamäki.
Promising start for the new term
Collaboration Director of Pohte Marjo Riitta Tervonen points out that the induction and grouping day of the Regional Youth Regional Assembly, held before the constitutive meeting, heard the wishes of the members for the upcoming term.
– The well-being of young people and climate change were the main topics discussed. In addition to the decision-making bodies of Pohde, the Regional Youth Regional Assembly will also be represented in the Climate Working Group of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region, Tervonen adds.
Development Manager of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region Ilpo Tapaninen welcomes the fact that young people raised the importance of networking at both national and international level at their meeting.
– This reflects the desire of young people to build cross-border connections and to strengthen their impact on a large scale. The Regional Youth Regional Assembly's activeness and initiative create a strong foundation for joint development work, Tapaninen says.
