Scenario work outlines alternative futures - Tell us what will affect the future in Northern Ostrobothnia
The Regional Councils of Uusimaa and Northern Ostrobothnia have started joint scenario work with the aim of outlining alternative futures for the counties until 2050. Scenario work helps to prepare for and influence uncertain futures.
The scenario work identifies key forces of change and their meanings for the futures of Uusimaa and Northern Ostrobothnia. In addition to megatrends, we also take into account so-called weak signals and uncertainties.
– Scenario work makes us more sensitive to the changing world and to the present, says Rosa Tuomi, Senior Specialist at the Regional Council of Uusimaa.
Joint scenario work between two counties is a new way of working
Both large, growing and developing regions have strong research, development and innovation activities. The common features and differences of the regions enrich the debate and enable new perspectives.
– Regions can find something in each other's futures that the region itself cannot see, says R&D Manager Mikko Väisänen Regional Assembly of Oulu Region.
– Through cooperation between the provinces, we wanted to join forces and try out a new way of making scenarios. We can certainly learn from each other and get new ideas for our future work, says Tuomi of the Uusimaa Regional Council.
Scenario work provides inputs to the provincial programme
The results of this work will provide input for the future provincial programme. A new regional programme will be prepared in 2025. The joint scenario work will be completed in March 2025.
Answer the survey and share your views on the factors affecting the future
How can the external environment of Northern Ostrobothnia develop by 2050? What are the most important fate issues for the future of Northern Ostrobothnia? As part of the scenario work, a survey will be carried out to hear the views of the people of the region on the future.
The survey consists of questions related to the future of the operating environment in Northern Ostrobothnia. The survey is open to anyone interested in the future of Northern Ostrobothnia.
