The international and networked North Ostrobothnia (Kanves) project has published a series of introductory videos on four innovation platforms that are important from the perspective of the region. Each video introduces the operation of the innovation platform and interviews a company that has used the platform's services to support its business. Innovation platforms from the Southern region of Oulu are presented in two tracks. Future Production Technologies The FMT Group has several partners from both the academic and business worlds. Its current partners come from domestic companies, from local organisations to foreign universities. The FMT Group's activities are concentrated in Nivala, where it works closely with the City of Nivala, the Industrial Village and the Nivala-Haapajärvi regional authority, NIHAK. FMT Group's research and development activities include 3D printing of metals and various after-treatments in the optimisation of product properties, such as rapid heat treatments and chemical or mechanical surface modification.  Watch the FMT group presentation video. Centria University of Applied Sciences, together with Kokkola University Centre Chydenius and the Kerttu Saalasti Institute of the University of Oulu, has received the status of an official Digital Innovation Hub for the Rural Industry Innovation Hub. Rural Industry Digital Innovation Hub is a strong national development and support hub that accelerates digitalisation in sparsely populated areas. Two innovation platforms operating in Oulu are presented, one in connection with the University of Oulu and the other in connection with Oulu University of Applied Sciences.  Oulu Mining School Research Centre (OMSRC) infrastructure comprises a diverse range of equipment for the needs of education and research in the extractive industry. The OMSRC infrastructure provides a modern platform for large-scale material processing, which is suitable for researching side streams from different industries, for example.  Watch the presentation video of Oulu Mining School Research Centre. Oamk SimLab is a versatile testing, development and innovation environment for social and health care that companies and partners can use in the product development of health technology and wellbeing services. SimLab environments are comprised of adaptable technology-supported simulation studios and environments in healthcare specialties (bioanalytics, rehabilitation, optometry, radiography and radiotherapy, and oral health care).  Watch the Oamk SimLab introductory video.  The videos on the innovation platforms have also been created by the North Ostrobothnia EU Information Point, whose trainee Julia Ramstedt will host the presentation videos. Keeping up in cooperation with international development requires active networking and participation in international project consortia. The project provides information on international funding applications and support for the preparation of applications. The aim of the project is to increase the number of internationally funded projects in Northern Ostrobothnia and to activate innovation stakeholders to participate actively in international consortia that take into account the needs of the local business community and the utilisation of the high level of expertise found in the region. Cooperation in cooperation within the region is developed by maintaining already established networks in cooperation with smart specialisation and international stakeholders. Northern Ostrobothnia has joined several Smart Specialisation thematic partnerships and new ones are still possible. The Regional Assembly of Oulu Region and the best experts from the Northern Ostrobothnia region represent the region in S3 partnerships.  The aim of the project is to reduce differences in innovation activity in cooperation within the region and to create operating models that encourage the cross-sectoral networking of innovation stakeholders in the region, nationally and internationally, enabling the creation of new openings. The project also aims to raise awareness among regional stakeholders about European cluster cooperation networks and the quality system created for clusters. One goal is also to raise awareness of the services offered by the region's innovation platforms and to be responsible for implementing the smart specialisation strategy in Eastern and Northern Finland in Northern Ostrobothnia. In the project's measures, cooperation networks in the region will be increased by organizing regular meetings and events between the stakeholders. The aim in organizing the events is to take into account the interdisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity, which creates opportunities for the creation of new innovative openings. The aim is to reach out to stakeholders across the region. Physically organised events are complemented by shorter webinars and videos presenting, for example, the innovation platforms of the region.
