On Monday 16 August, the Regional Board of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region held its first meeting of the autumn period. Decisions on the meetings were taken in accordance in cooperation in cooperation with the agenda.
the Board of the Regional Assembly dismayed by draft investment programme for state fairway network

Significant investments on highway 4 are also lacking and the limited funding for basic road maintenance is problematic. A strategic long-term approach was also raised.
The objectives of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region's operations for 2022 were approved
The Regional Board approved the objectives of the union's activities for 2022 as a basis for further preparation of the budget and the economic and operational plan. The proposal for an economic and operational plan for 2022-2024 will be discussed in the the Board of the Regional Assembly on 13 September 2021 and the plan will then be sent to the member municipalities for an opinion. The budget of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region and the Economic and Operational Plan 2022-2024 will be discussed and approved at the autumn Regional Assembly meeting on 13 December 2021.
Draft Nature Conservation Act in discussion
The the Board of the Regional Assembly held a referral discussion on the Government's proposal to Parliament for the Nature Conservation Act and certain related acts. The current Nature Conservation Act would be updated and its effectiveness would be improved to enhance the protection of species and habitats, to develop the management of nature information, to promote climate change adaptation and mitigation, and to promote the protection and sustainable use of biodiversity.
Apply for a grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture for the development of municipalities' cultural activities
The Regional Assembly of Oulu Region is applying for a special grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture for the regional development task of municipalities' cultural activities. The total budget of the project is 240,000 euros, for which a government grant of 215,000 euros is requested. The Regional Board decided to cover EUR 15,500 of the project's own contribution from the European European European European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (ERDF) (ERDF) (ERDF) of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region.
Three network and thematic projects received funding
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has allocated EUR 7 million for 2021-2023 for interregional cooperation. Three projects were approved for funding from Northern Ostrobothnia: HYTKI - the National Innovation Ecosystem for Wellbeing and Health Data (University of Oulu), the National Hydrogen Network (City of Raahe) and the Development Zone of the Bothnian Arc (City of Oulu). The projects are funded through the Regional Assembly in cooperation in cooperation with a specific funding for supporting the sustainable growth and vitality of the regions.
Change in personnel
Minna Hirvonen from Syöte Tourism Regional Assembly was appointed as a member of the Tourism Development Committee.
Post of Head of Communications and Administration
As part of the strategy work of the Regional Assembly of Oulu Region and the change in the management system, the job descriptions and titles of the personnel have been examined. The the Board of the Regional Assembly changed the post of Head of Communications to the post of Head of Communications and Administration as of 1 September 2021. The current Head of Communications Arja Hankivaara, who has acted as Deputy Head of Administration, will continue in the position.
