The Northern Periphery and the Arctic 2021-2027 Interreg programme opens its first call for applications
The first actual application period for the new Northern Periphery and Arctic programme is planned to take place from 17 March to 20 June 2022.
The Interreg NPA cooperation programme for 2021-2017 has been built on the good experiences of previous programmes. The programme area has now been slightly reduced so that Northern Ireland and Scotland are no longer part of the actual programme area. The programme area in Norway also changed to include the two northernmost regions, Nordland and Troms-Finnmark. Ireland, on the other hand, introduced new regions into the programme.

In order to quickly launch the new NPA programme, the Monitoring Committee now encourages those planning cooperation projects to develop their ideas, find suitable project partners and identify available counterpart funding sources in different countries. The final eligibility criteria (Terms of Reference) will be established by the Monitoring Committee just before the official opening of the call, but you can read the draft of the eligibility criteria now.
Funding can be requested for the next two themes of the programme of the new programme and their specific objectives.
Priority axis 1: strengthening the innovation capacity of resilient and attractive NPA communities;
Priority axis 2: strengthening the capacity of NPA communities to adapt to the impacts of climate change and to ensure the sufficiency of raw materials.
The actual projects are expected to produce tangible and sustainable results in cooperation in cooperation with a positive impact on the target groups of the project in the programme area. For more information on programme objectives and performance metrics, see Programme and project logic.
