Record number of applications for the Northern Ostrobothnia Regional Regional Assembly's JTF application
The Northern Ostrobothnia Regional Regional Assembly's JTF application period opened on 19 April. In just over three weeks, a record number of applications were received, 149. The first application period for the continuous application period ended on Friday 12 May.
– This is the highest number I have ever had in my twenty-year career. Approximately 50-60 applications are usually received, regional development expert Aki Lappalainen notes.
The record number of applications shows that the opening of JTF funding applications has indeed been expected in the region. Applications will focus on content that creates new technologies and solutions, in line in cooperation in cooperation with the application programme. Funding was sought for projects supporting sustainable growth and the circular economy, as well as for projects developing technological innovations.
Significant support for the development of the region
JTF funding for stakeholders in the Northern Ostrobothnia region is intended to develop the region's businesses and minimise the negative effects of the green transition. Regional Development Director Tiina Rajala welcomes the active involvement of stakeholders in the region.
– All admissible applications should support the Just Transition Plan for Northern Ostrobothnia. This will highlight the impact of regional funding and the results that decision-makers are also calling for," Rajala says.
Actions supported by the JTF shall support economic diversification and job creation. Funding will be allocated to innovation projects promoting the businesses of public stakeholders.
First solutions in August at the earliest
The first solutions for applications for further processing will probably only be available after the summer holidays. This is due to the record number of applications. During the next three months, applications will be read, pre-evaluated and pre-selected. The applications will then be scored.
– It is a good thing that there are many applications. This means that there is fair competition when applying for funding. It also leads to quality results. We get the most potential ideas from the region, Aki Lappalainen says.
The Regional Assembly of Oulu Region can grant applicants JTF funding of up to EUR 35 million this year. The total number of applications received so far amounts to EUR 63.4 million, which is almost double the amount available for distribution.
In the call to be launched in 2024, the amount of JTF funding will decrease significantly. Approximately EUR 3 million can be distributed.
