Cooperation between the regions of Eastern and Northern Finland continues strong in the ELMO II project
The regions of Eastern and Northern Finland will continue their fruitful cooperation in cooperation within the framework of the region's common smart specialisation strategy. The aim of the cooperation is to improve the growth of cooperation networks and funding opportunities especially for companies located in the Eastern and Northern Finland region as well as research, development and innovation (RDI) stakeholders.
The work will be carried out on a practical level in the Smart Specialisation in Eastern and Northern Finland 2022-2027 (ELMO II) project, which aims in particular at consolidating cooperation between regional experts. At the same time, the creation of new innovations in the region is supported, especially through value network analyses and the development of cluster activities.
The ELMO II cooperation network supports the development of the national and international networking activities of stakeholders in the Eastern and Northern Finland region by offering the stakeholders in the region not only information but also memberships to the Vanguard Initiative, as well as in the European Clusters Excellence Labelling Structure (EUCLES) and the European Cluster Alliance (ECA).
Vanguard is a high-quality research network that enables participation in international projects, cooperation and funding applications. ECA, on the other hand, is a representative Regional Regional Assembly of national cluster players in Europe. In addition, EUCLES acts as a qualitative certification organisation for clusters. Eastern and Northern Finland is a founding member of the EUCLES network and currently the only member of Finland.
“ELMO II is actively involved in international networks. We are leading the Recognition team in the EUCLES network, and we are working to increase the visibility of the Eastern and Northern Finland region as a competent partner in other networks as well," says Riikka Tanskanen, Project Manager of the ELMO II project.
