In the aftermath of the State of the Union address, Mr von der Leyen's speech will be evaluated by Mr Tuppurainen, Minister for European Affairs, and Mr Vehkaperä, Member of the Committee of the Regions
North Ostrobothnia EU Information Point Wednesday 15 September from 3:10 p.m. a debate to take stock of the State of the Union speech given by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the same day in the morning.
Ms Tytti Tuppurainen, Minister for European Affairs, Ms Mirja Vehkaperä, Member of the European Committee of the Regions and President of Oulu City Board, and Ms Hanna Honkamäkilä, Head of International Affairs at the Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia, will take part in the discussion. The event will be hosted by Ville Koivuniemi, spokesperson for the North Ostrobothnia EU Information Point and the Regional Council of North Ostrobothnia. The duration of the discussion is approximately 30 minutes.
The State of the Union speech will be discussed especially with regard to its effects on Northern Ostrobothnia, Northern Finland and Finland.

Europe is going through a difficult year in many ways, but according to von der Leyen's preliminary data, Europe looks to the future with hope. The European Union has stepped up the supply of vaccines to Europeans, stepped up international cooperation in the fight against the pandemic and led Europe beyond the economic crisis.
Von der Leyen's speech is expected to take a look at the past year and anticipate the future. The European Green Deal and the Digital Decade will improve Europeans’ democracy, security and health.
The State of the Union address is the second in the career of President von der Leyen of the European Commission. The State of the Union speech, which begins Wednesday at 10 a.m., can follow here.
