Number of jobs
| Description: ‘Employees in the region’ means all persons employed in the region, regardless of their place of residence. Those working in the area form a so-called working day population, the number of which can be seen as a measure of the number of jobs in the area. Every employed person is then thought to form a single job. In this way, even a person working part-time computationally forms a single workplace. If, for example, the work is carried out by a substitute for maternity leave, two jobs may be created. The employed labour force includes all persons aged 18 to 74 who were gainfully employed in the last week of the year and who were not unemployed as jobseekers at the employment office or performing military or non-military service. The information on employment is based on the data of the earnings-related pension and tax authorities. Youth unemployment (TEM)
| Description: Unemployed persons aged 15 to 24 as a percentage of the labour force aged 18 to 24. An unemployed person is considered to be a jobseeker who is not in an employment relationship and is not employed full-time in business or in his/her own work within the meaning of Chapter 2 of the Unemployment Security Act and who is not a full-time student within the meaning of Chapter 2 of the Unemployment Security Act. An employee who is fully laid off or whose regular weekly working time is less than 4 hours is also considered to be unemployed. Full-time schoolchildren and students are also not counted as unemployed during the holidays. The original figures used in the calculation of the percentage are annual averages based on data for the different months of the year in question. The number of employees is obtained only about two years after the end of the statistical year from Statistics Finland's employment statistics. Time series: 2016-. Employment rate
| Description: Percentage of employed persons in the population of the same age. The employment rate of the total population is calculated as the percentage of employed persons aged 15 to 64 in the population of the same age. The Labour Force Survey (LFS) is a sample survey used to compile monthly, quarterly and annual statistics on labour market participation, employment, unemployment and working time of the population aged 15-74. An employed person is a person who, during the survey week, has been in gainful employment for at least one hour in exchange for a monetary salary or fringe benefit, or in order to make a profit, or has been temporarily absent from work. A person who has been absent from work during the survey week is counted as employed if the reason for his or her absence is his or her own illness, maternity or paternity leave, or the absence has lasted less than 3 months. Employed persons may be wage and salary earners, self-employed persons or unpaid assistants in the company of a family member. Persons aged 17-24 not in education or training
| Description: The indicator expresses the percentage of the population aged 17 to 24 who are not in education or training as a percentage of the population of the corresponding age. Persons excluded from education refer to persons who in the year in question are not students or who do not have a degree code, i.e. no post-comprehensive level education. The average population is used as population data. Due to data protection, information on less than 5 cases is not published, which is why gender-specific information is not available for some municipalities.
