European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) is better known as Interreg programmes. The EGTC objective supports cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation between EU Member States. In addition, the EU funds external border cooperation through the ENI CBC financial instrument. The Regional Council of Northern Ostrobothnia Karelia ENI as the Managing Authority of the CBC Programme.
Northern Ostrobothnia is one of the following Interreg programme areas for the 2021-2027 programming period: Interreg Aurora, Interreg Baltic Sea Region, Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic, Karelia CBC, Interreg Europe, and the new EU-wide programme "I3, International Investment in Innovation".
The EU Commission has started planning for the next programming period by launching stakeholder consultations on the programmes. Interreg Aurora and the Baltic Sea Interreg Programme the hearings are open until 31 May 2024.
