For the purpose of coordinating the implementation of EU structural fund programmes and measures affecting the development of the region, each county has a regional cooperation group, which is appointed by the board of the Regional Council of the county. The parties represented in the cooperation group are the Regional Council and its member municipalities, the state authorities and other organisations belonging to the central government that finance the programme, and the most important labour market and business organisations for the development of the region, as well as, where possible, other organisations representing civil society or environmental organisations and organisations promoting equality.
