The main purpose of the project is to secure the competitiveness of the regional innovation ecosystem and the conditions for development of skills and competences, which will enable RDI activities of SMEs and regional development organisations to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and develop employment and skills. This requires joint planning of the regions.
The need for coordinated preparation is based on the needs identified in the region, in particular the recommendations of the NSPA OECD report. The report includes regional recommendations and a joint recommendation to support smart specialisation RDI activities in the next programming period.
The EU's cohesion policy aims to strengthen the EU's economic, social and territorial cohesion and reduce regional disparities. The aim is also to promote economic growth and employment and to improve the well-being of citizens through strategic investments at regional and municipal level.
The aim of this project is to organise the regional-level preparation of Eastern and Northern Finland for the 2028-2034 programming period and to agree on programming principles. The Regional Assembly of Oulu Region coordinates the work for Eastern and Northern Finland. The Regional Assemblys involved in the preparation are the Regional Assembly of Lapland, the Regional Assembly of Kainuu, the Regional Assembly of Central Ostrobothnia, the Regional Assembly of North Savo, the Regional Assembly of South Savo and the Regional Assembly of North Karelia.
Regional Assemblys are responsible for the strategic entity of regional development and the planning of regional development in cooperation in cooperation in cooperation with municipalities, Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment and other state regional administrations as well as other parties involved in regional development.
