The Interreg Aurora programme is a joint programme of the northern regions of Finland, Sweden and Norway.
The Aurora programme will be expanded in 2024. The two new provinces of the programme are North Karelia and Kainuu. Aurora's programming document can be found this!

As of 2024, the Interreg Aurora programme area covers seven regions in Northern Finland, North Ostrobothnia, Lapland, Central Ostrobothnia, Kainuu, North Karelia, Ostrobothnia and South Ostrobothnia. The language of the program is English. The programme is structured around three themes: smart Europe, green Europe and social Europe. Within the Social Europe theme, the priorities are tourism and culture, as well as cooperation in education and training.
The administrative authority for Interreg Aurora is the County Government of Norrbotten in Sweden. Two of its secretariat members work in Finland, in the Regional Councils of Ostrobothnia and Lapland. Anna-Mari from Auniola the Regional Council of Lapland get help with questions related to the programme and funding applications. National matching funding is granted in Finland Regional Council of Lapland.

Funding for the programme consists of an ERDF contribution of EUR 93,8 million, national counterparts and private funding. The total amount of the programme is estimated at EUR 161.1 million for the entire programming period. In addition, unused funds from the Karelia CBC external border programme will be transferred to the programme in 2024.
