Hanhikivi Nuclear Power Provincial Plan

Hanhikivi's nuclear power county plan is legally valid

On 7 April 2008, the provincial government decided to start drawing up a provincial plan for a nuclear power plant project in Hanhikivi. On the proposal of Pyhäjoki Municipal Board, Raahe City Board and Fennovoima Oy, which is planning a nuclear power plant.

Acceptance and Confirmation

The Hanhikivi nuclear power region plan was approved in a meeting of the provincial council on 22 February 2010. Confirmed by the Ministry of the Environment on 26 August 2010 (Decision No: YM/2/5222/2010).

Complaints and formula to become final

Two appeals were lodged with the Korkein hallinto-oikeus (Supreme Administrative Court). The Supreme Court dismissed the appeals. by decision of 21 September 2011 and the provincial nuclear plan has become legally valid since the announcements.

The municipality of Pyhäjoki and the city of Raahe drew up the partial master plans and city plans required for the nuclear power plant project in the Hanhikivi area, which have been prepared at the same time as the regional plan.
